Message as an introduction, let me say i am only an every day lurker here at tt.net.
i usually read through the site over breakfast each morning.
i absorb important information and save good pictures.
posting is not my cup of tea.
i have been to some local events, and have been included in others posts about those events.
but it has been a long time since i posted, and even longer since i included pictures of my ride.

with everything that i have done this year, i started thinking about the past.
i thought a story post would be an interesting way to initiate a new chapter as a z owner.

this post covers my z experience from the begining to the present.
if you have some time, take a walk down my memory road.
if you dont have time, go back now!

my first z.
a 1992 n/a.
when i purchased it, it was bone stock.
i couldnt find any pics from that far back in time, but i did find some after my first batch of upgrades.

spot the stillen body parts, exhaust, and totally cool mirror covers. :P
motegi wheels gave it a decent look.
and some basic suspension mods made it a blast to drive.

fast foward to my friend bill (ImTheDevil) purchasing a 1991 tt.
low mileage and in nearly stock form at the time, it was a great deal.

dig those shiny wheels!

soon after, there was an identity crisis.
wanting to "update" our looks, we experimented a little.

at least i had moved on to j-spec tails by that time. :)

as time went by, bill continued to modify the tt.

volk gt-p wheels.......sweet.

fast foward again.
my 1992 n/a had its share of nicks, scratches and dents.
that happens to a daily driven car.
it was even my winter car.
thank god for blizzaks!

after i saw what the painter at my work could do:

i decided it was time for a full body paint.
nothing over the top.
just an update of the factory color.

the rock gaurds were smoothed, and nearly all parts were painted.

we also decided a small amount of flake in the clear coat would give the car a nice "pop" in the sunshine.
this picture from inside the booth doesn't do it justice.

with the car assembled, some new parts added, and some old "shiny" wheels made new again, this was the final result:

here is one from a local event:

oooh, i loved those air horns sticking out the nose!

and here with some friends:

the car was not a daily driver after the paint job.
in colder weather, it would only be driven on dry roads.
however, dry roads couldnt prevent an absent minded soccer mom from running a blinking red light.
i didnt have time to even touch my brake pedal.
some of you may remember this:

ouch.
the car was totaled and it was stripped for parts.
a sad day indeed, especially after all that work went into it.

but as luck would have it, at that exact time, bill was ready to sell the tt.
the deal was made, and the car traded hands.

parts from the n/a made their way over.
and my new nickname was inked.

the stop techs are in there, theyre just hard to see.

next came the removal of the stock spolier.
the kaminari led style was added.

then came the second identity crisis.

i had always loved the stillen exhaust from the n/a.
i wondered how it would differ in tone from the hiper.
it would certainly look different.

in the end though, the stillen exhaust turned out to be too quiet.
and it was not as aggressive looking as the hiper.
sorry hiper haters.

this takes us foward to this past winter.

it was decision time.

although the volk gt-p wheels were nice, i wanted something different.
contact coz.....and the wait for the wheels began.

i also wanted a new stance and added performance.
contact kyle.....coilovers and suspension goodies.

after everything arrived, about 6 weeks of work went by.
a little bit each day after work, and some extra on the weekends.

which brings us to today:

i am very happy with how the car turned out.
i was able to get the exact look i wanted.
and with the cars performance increased, it feels brand new again.

thank you to everyone involved:
thanks coz and kyle for your excellent service.
thanks to the members of this site for the wealth of knowledge that we all have to draw on.
and thanks to bill; his help and willingness to use a hole saw helped me through the entire process. :)

i hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane.
